Cornell Statement

We, the Sisters of Delta Phi Omega Sorority, Incorporated, are deeply disturbed by the reports of sexual misconduct at a Cornell University fraternity house in October 2024. The reporting surrounding this case is a painful reminder that our communities must be built on mutual respect, care, safety, and compassion.

We stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence and with individuals who come forward to report sexual misconduct. Survivors deserve to be heard, taken seriously, supported, and treated with dignity. We support a fair, thorough, and transparent process that respects the rights and dignity of all.

Everyone deserves to feel safe on campus and to report misconduct without fear of reprisal. Sexual violence has no place in Greek life. Delta Phi Omega Sorority, Incorporated recognizes that statements of support must be accompanied by continued education, awareness, resources and action.

We are committed to the following:

Member Education & Support Workshop. We will host an educational workshop for our members focused on understanding sexual violence, supporting survivors, recognizing warning signs, and identifying available support and reporting resources.

Support and Reporting Resources. Our National Leadership is developing resources to help members understand available support options, how to report concerns, and where to seek additional assistance when needed.

Our Stance Against Hazing. We stand against all forms of hazing. We participate in the national Diamonds Don’t Haze campaign and equip our members with education to recognize hazing and the tools to speak up against it.

We call on every Greek organization to join us in creating communities grounded in safety, respect, accountability, and care. We believe that creating safer communities requires more than words; it requires continued education awareness, accountability, and a commitment to supporting those who come forward.

How to Help:

To anyone who has experienced or witnessed sexual misconduct or hazing: you deserve to be heard, supported, and treated with dignity. You are not alone.
