Literacy Through Unity Week is a national initiative dedicated to promoting literacy awareness while raising funds to support access to education in underserved communities. Literacy is a foundation for opportunity and access to education impacts employment, health outcomes, civic engagement, and generational mobility. When communities are empowered through literacy, they are better equipped to advocate for themselves and create long-term change. Through advocacy, service, and fundraising, chapters unite to make a lasting educational impact.

Our Beneficiary
Our beneficiary for Literacy Through Unity is Asha for Education. Asha for Education is a secular organization that focuses on volunteers serving in India to bring about long-term positive change through educational efforts. Asha believes that education is key to helping underprivileged communities lift themselves out of poverty. By providing financial support and helping strengthen bottom-up education programs, Asha creates opportunities for those who need them most. Education can lead to many other positive changes as well. Children who receive support through Asha may also benefit from improved access to healthcare, women’s empowerment initiatives, environmental awareness, and addressing social inequalities.
Through this partnership, Literacy Through Unity Week (LTUW) supports Asha’s mission to:
- Work with organizations already on the ground in India supporting educational programs
- Give underprivileged children the opportunity for a quality education in India
- Strengthen Asha’s worldwide volunteer network to continue expanding access to education
- Raise funds, volunteers, and awareness to help these life-changing programs grow
