The Sisters of Delta Phi Omega Sorority, Incorporated stand alongside all of our immigrant sisters and those families affected, to #defendDACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). The purpose of DACA, founded under the Obama Administration in June 2012, is to protect eligible undocumented minor immigrants from deportation and give them a work permit upon renewal into the program every two years. These young immigrants were brought to this country by their parents, and they may not know a country besides ours.
We support those young immigrants seeking freedom and an opportunity to live the American Dream in the United States of America like the majority of our residents do today. No student should be punished for getting an education here and working to make their lives better. Immigrants have been an integral part of the United States of America’s workforce, and ending DACA would severely detract from that.
As Americans, it is our responsibility to protect our neighbors and make sure no harm or injustice is caused to them. Take a stand today and #defendDACA.
