The safety and health of our members is a foremost concern of the National Council of Delta Phi Omega Sorority, Incorporated. We have a commitment to safeguard our members’ health; a commitment to our core values and to check the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
As the national governing leaders of this organization, we are closely monitoring developments in connection with the emergence of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) at our charters nationwide, and are staying up to date with the information and guidance provided by our government health authorities.
In recent days, there have been significant decisions and developments within our organization:
- Outreach: Members were provided with information in regards to the virus, including symptoms, health services they have available through their universities, how to proceed if they are experiencing symptoms, how to keep themselves safe, resources, and other related information.
- New Member Education: All NME meetings will be conducted remotely through virtual methods. All New Member Presentations are cancelled but are subject to being rescheduled.
- Internal Programming: All spring regional retreats have been cancelled. Additionally, all charters were asked to halt all programming in person, and alternatively replace them with virtual or online methods.
- Continued Monitoring: National Council’s decisions align with the most up-to-date guidance from their charter’s universities, the World Health Organization, the CDC, and state and city health agencies. We will continue to monitor statements released by these agencies, and will seek and act on any guidance specific to our organization.
